History
Omnidea was born in 2002-2004 in the incubator ESTEC/ESA. Tiago Pardal (President) was convinced, from an early age, that humanity’s greatest barriers are the oceans and space, and that this is where the future of the planet lies.
Tiago has always looked “upwards” and it was in space that he found his passion and determination to go further.
Starting activity in the electrochemistry area, it quickly expanded its competencies, currently counting with a multidisciplinary team involved in R&D projects in several technological areas of the space sector. Currently, it has a prominent international position in the sectors mentioned, as attested by the vast portfolio of patents registered, indicators of the technological innovation that it has achieved over the years.
As the provision of services is its principal activity, the European Space Agency stands out as its main client, in a list that also includes Magna Aerospace AG, SSC and Airbus D&S.
Omnidea is the only national company dedicated to space propulsion technology, being the R&D leader of the propulsion system of the first satellite developed entirely in Portugal (INFANTE) and is also involved in the industrial research of engines for the national micro-satellite launcher (MAPLE). Omnidea is currently leading the program for the development of the Portuguese micro launcher at ESA.
